Doula Insights: Important Recall on HALO Magic Sleepsuits Parents Should Know
As a postpartum doula supporting families across Los Angeles, one of my priorities is helping parents stay informed about newborn safety updates and product recalls.
Recently, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued an important recall involving a popular baby sleep product: the HALO Magic Sleepsuit.
If you’re using this product or considering it for your baby, here’s what you should know.
What Happened?
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, HALO Dream has recalled certain Magic Sleepsuits due to a potential choking hazard.
The recall was issued because:
“The zipper pull can detach from the sleepwear, posing a choking hazard to infants.”
Parents who own this product are encouraged to stop using it immediately and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer for replacement or repair.

Why Product Recalls Matter for Parents
Newborn products go through safety testing, but occasionally issues are discovered after products reach the market.
Staying aware of recalls is important because newborns explore their world in ways that can make small hazards dangerous.
As a postpartum doula, I often help families review safe sleep environments and baby products to make sure everything being used around their newborn is as safe as possible.
Safe Sleep Is Always the Priority
When it comes to newborn sleep, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends:
Placing babies on their backs to sleep
Using a firm, flat sleep surface
Keeping the sleep space free of loose objects
Avoiding products that could pose choking or suffocation risks
If a product recall happens, it’s always best to stop using the item until more information is available.
